Diplomirala je iz češkega jezika in literature na Filozofski fakulteti Univerze v Ostravi ter iz bibliotekarstva in informatike Filozofsko-naravoslovni fakulteti na Šlezijski univerzi v Opavi. Zaposlena je bila v ostravski mestni knjižnici, trenutno je na materinskem dopustu z dvoletnim sinom Dominikom. Poezijo in kratke zgodbe je objavila v številnih čeških literarnih revijah, npr. Host, Protimluv, Psí víno, Tvar, UNI, Literární forum, Pandora, Viselec, Weles, Zvuk itd., ter antologijah in almanahih: V srdci černého pavouka (V srcu črnega pajka, 2000), Cestou (Na poti, 2004), Antologie české poezie 1986–2006 (Antologija češke poezije, 2007), Ty, která píšeš (Ti, ki pišeš - antologija sodobnih čeških pisateljic kratkih zgodb, 2008).
Leta 2006 je izdala pesniško zbirko Zámlky (Premolki), septembra 2010 pa je izšla zbirka Všechny tvoje smrti (Vse tvoje smrti). Trenutno pripravlja zbirko kratkih zgodb.
The poet and novelist Irena Šťastná was born as Irena Václavíková on 25th October 1978 in Opava. She lives in the small village Dobroslavice in the North Moravian region in the Czech Republic. She graduated the Faculty of Arts at University of Ostrava (Master's studies with focus on the Czech language and Literary Science) and the Faculty of Philosophy and Science in Silesian University, Opava (BA in Library and Information Studies). She was working in management of Ostrava’s City Library for 5 years. Currently, she is on maternity leave with her 2 year-old son Dominik.
She published poetry and short stories in many periodicals - Host, Protimluv, Psí víno, Tvar, UNI, Literární forum, Pandora, Viselec, Weles, Zvuk, etc.), in anthologies and almanacs - V srdci černého pavouka (In Heart of Black Spider) 2000; Cestou (On the Way) 2004; Antologie české poezie 1986–2006 (Anthology of Czech Poetry), 2007; Ty, která píšeš (You Who Write - anthology of contemporary Czech women's stories); 2008.
In 2006 Irena Šťastná published the book of poetry Zámlky (All Unsaid). The second collection titled Všechny tvoje smrti (All Your Deaths) is going to be published in September 2010. Now the authoress is working on the book of short prosaic stories.
