Christophe Lamiot Enos

1962, France

Born in 1962 in Beaumont-le-Roger. He lived in USA for fourteen years, where he finished his PhD. Now he lives in Paris and teaches in Department of Didactics on Académie de Rouen in Evreux, where he is researching a connection of poetry with understanding of everyday life. He organised many workshops of creating writhing. In his work, he's trying to say "what hasn't been put into words yet" in a way, that awakens and marks the experience. He published six poetry books: Des Pommes et des oranges, Californie I—Berkeley (2000; About Apples and Oranges, California I – Berkeley), Elle qui (2002; She, that; a limited collector's edition in collaboration with a painter Philippom Hélénonom), Sitôt Elke, illusion (2003; And Now Elke, illusion), En face, s’agitent (2004; Opposite, Agitated; a limited collector's edition in collaboration with a painter Philippom Hélénonom), Des Pommes et des oranges, Californie II—Albany (2006; About Apples and Oranges, California II – Albany), Un bassin (2006; Pool; a limited collector's edition in collaboration with a painter Philippom Hélénonom) and two books of essays: Eau sur eau: les dictionnaires de Mallarmé, Flaubert, Bataille, Michaux, Leiris et Ponge (1997; Water on Water: dictionaries of Mallarmé, Flaubert, Battaille, Maichaux, Leiris and Ponge) and Littérature et hôpital: Balzac, Sue, Hugo (1999; Literature and Hospital: Balzac, Sue, Hugo). The translated poems are from the book Nous allons en tendre lieu (We are Going to the Tender Place).

For the cycle of poems, that the author included in the translation workshop, is characteristic interpretation of old Jewish tradition: the rule, that rhymes should be in the beginning if the row. That rule is sometimes even more difficult with additional rhyme at the end, that is pleased according to different rules. That formal obligation in accordance with poetry of French language is based mainly on sound image of individual word, so that the syllables can be inverse in some places.
